The Box

I found a little box today
It was sealed up tight
Not even a single crack
To let in a ray of light

I heard a little creature
Stomping around inside
But the box wouldn't open up
No matter how hard I pried

"Oh, free me person"
I heard the creature shout
I tried and tried
But I couldn't get him out

He was trapped inside
The box was his cage
With every passing second
The creature grew with rage

I heard the creature's pain
Through the cries he was sounding
I felt his rage
Through his fists that he was pounding

Then the creatre
Came bursting out
First he looked around
Then started to scream and shout

Expressing the emotions
He never got to express
While trapped
In his tiny box of fear and loneliness

He ran around the room
Expressing all his rage
Then when it was all out
He returned to his cage

It seemed as though
He was hiding everything he had
He would only show it
When it got unbearably bad

He crawls into his little box
And hides within the night
The darkness overwhelms him
In this box that's sealed up tight

He hides in his little box
Wasting life away
Growing angrier and angrier
With every passing day

If only he could come out
And tell us what's inside
We could help him deal with it
And take back the tears he has cried

But instead
He hides
Within his cage
Concealing his inner rage

Forever angry with life
Angry with what he can't see
Angry with the whole world
Angry with humanity
